Simple proverb, describes the nature of people and water.
What do we mean when we say people look up?
A good quote from the obscure old movie "The Mosquito Coast (1986)" featuring Harrison Ford and River Phoenix describes it at the end: "Dead things go down stream... life is upstream!"
Well they said that after posioning the river with ammonia after their wood fire powered refrigerator broke... Good movie.
What it means to look up is to want something better, to have a dream of a better future and live your life achieving it. As Ted Kaczynski described as the "power process" in the Unabomber Manifesto, or simply, the hero's journey. Goal, effort, attainment, and autonomy.
As much as it is water's nature to want to flow in the ocean, people want to achieve.
Where there is a want, there is an opportunity to sell. So we have video games, "surrogate activities" as described in "Industrial Society and its Future"
I fear the ultimate aftermath is going to be "The Electric State."
