The following is a buddist fable, retold many times, they are not my words but it influenced my thinking quite a bit.
两位僧人相互对视,因为他们发过誓不碰女人。
然后,老僧人毫无言语地抱起了那位女人,把她带过河,轻轻放在对岸,继续他的旅程。
年轻的僧人无法相信刚才发生的事情。与同伴重新汇合后,他无言以对,过了一个小时他们之间没有说一句话。
又过去了两个小时,然后是三个小时,最终年轻的僧人再也忍不住,脱口而出:“作为僧人,我们不能有女人,你怎么能把那个女人扛在肩上?”
老僧人看着他说:“兄弟,我把她放在河的另一边,你为什么还在背着她?”
Her soul is so light after all the tears she has shed that we can easily bear her up to Paradise. Your soul is so weighed down with stones it is too heavy to lift.’ Source
